Phil Mickelson has reportedly been thrown out of his home golf club after allegations of “nonconsensual and inappropriate physical contact” were made by a female staff member.

According to Golf Digest, the six-time major winner has had his membership at The Farms Golf Club in San Diego revoked over the allegations, despite having played the course regularly for a number of years.

The female employee reportedly alleged that the 55-year-old engaged in inappropriate conduct toward her last spring, including physical contact that she says was not consensual. The complaint was reported to supervisors, who “took the allegation seriously and moved quickly” initiating an immediate investigation.

The outlet’s website reported that Mickelson was confronted regarding the allegations while playing a round and was subsequently asked to leave the club grounds.

A statement by The Farms to Golf Digest read: “Following a staff member report of member misconduct, the club provided immediate and ongoing support to the staff member, conducted a thorough independent investigation of the incident and took decisive action. This individual is no longer a member of The Farms Golf Club.

“To protect the safety and privacy of our staff and member, we are unable to speak further on the matter.”

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office said its investigation uncovered no evidence substantiating the sexual assault allegation.

In a statement to Golf Digest, a spokesperson for Mickelson said: “Any misunderstanding has been cleared up. Phil continues to attend to a family health matter and is uncertain when he will be able to return to professional golf.”

Mickelson, who played a leading role in recruiting players to LIV Golf, has made just one appearance on the circuit this year due to a serious family health issue that has not been publicly detailed.
