Japan’s Miyu Yamashita earned a second title of the season after a dominant, record-equalling victory at the CPKC Women’s Open.
The 25-year-old entered the final round at Royal Mayfair as the overnight leader with a comfortable six-stroke buffer. Her closest challenger, fellow countrywoman Yuri Yoshida, looked to cut into Yamashita’s advantage early with an opening birdie. However, the major winner remained on a hot streak, and despite dropping her first shot at the 4th, she responded with four birdies on the front nine to extend her lead.
Coming from nine shots back, South Korea’s Sei Young Kim sought to also put herself into contention with a solid front nine that included three birdies and an eagle, making it within seven shots of Yamashita by the turn. But Kim’s back nine was only pars and back-to-back bogeys at 16 and 17 that cost her any chance of reaching the summit. Yamashita made birdie at the 12th before rolling in her second and final bogey at the 14th. This was far from costly as she comfortably closed with a birdie at the 18th to end on 23 under, card a final-round 66, and seal a remarkable nine-stroke victory, matching the LPGA Tour’s 72-hole scoring record.
“I was nervous,” Yamashita said in her post-round interview, admitting to nerves regardless of her sizable lead. “I trusted my game and my shot and my swing.”
After commanding rounds of 62-64-65-66, Yamashita broke the tournament record of 262 that was set by Jin Young Ko in 2019. And with her second win of 2026 secured, she now adds her name to the short list of other multiple winners this year, including Nelly Korda, Jeeno Thitikul, Haeran Ryu, Hyo Joo Kim, and Hannah Green.
Yamashita has also become the fastest Japanese player of all time to earn four wins, impressively doing so in only 42 starts since she first joined the LPGA Tour in 2025. Her four titles have also come in four different countries, with her first coming at the AIG Women’s Open in Wales, her second at the Maybank Championship in Malaysia, and her third at the Meijer LPGA Classic in Michigan. On the Japan LPGA Tour, she already has 13 titles to her name.
Following Yamashita, runner-up Yoshida finished on 14 under. Kim ended in third on 13 under, while fourth was shared between USA’s Gina Kim, China’s Ruoning Yin, and the Canadian home favorite Anna Huang at 12 under.
