Celine Boutier secured her second consecutive title within two weeks, triumphing by a two-shot margin at the Women’s Scottish Open.
The 29-year-old, who earned her first major victory at the Amundi Evian Championship at the end of July, continued her fine form by finishing on 15 under after a two-under final round of 70 at Dundonald Links to seal her third victory of the year.
Having birdied her sixth, ninth, and 13th holes, Boutier was comfortably at the top of the leaderboard and heading towards a comfortable victory. However, setbacks at the 14th and 16th holes, along with a birdie on the final hole by Hyo Joo Kim narrowed her lead to only one shot.
However, the Frenchwoman recovered after she birdied the 17th and parred the final hole to finish two-shots ahead of Kim.
“To be honest, I was so tired early in the week and trying to get through each round and trying to do my best,” Boutier said. “Being able to be in contention over the weekend, especially today, was definitely a huge bonus.”
With this victory, Boutier became the first LPGA golfer since Thailand’s Ariya Jutanugarn in 2016 to clinch victory in the subsequent tournament after a major championship win. She also became the first player to achieve back-to-back wins on the LPGA Tour since Jin Young Ko did so in 2021, claiming victories at the Cognizant Founders Cup and BMW Ladies Championship.
The next event on the LPGA Tour is the AIG Women’s Open taking place between 10-13 August at Walton Heath Old Course in England.
