In 2024, NEWTON GOLF introduced its Gravity Putter Line, rebranding what was formerly known as Sacks Parente Golf putters. The company premiered the Gravity Premium Series with three new putter models and two redesigned classics, featuring innovative design elements aimed at enhancing golfers’ putting performance. The Gravity putter design holds true to the belief that gravity matters, employing NEWTON GOLF’s patented Ultra’Low Balance Point (ULBP) and Center of Gravity (CG) technology to improve every putt’s natural tempo and precision. The new putters boast a fresh, modern aesthetic with a premium ceramic coating finish and striking red and black colors.
Key Features of Newton Gravity Putters
Design and Technology
One standout feature in the Newton Gravity Putters line is the Ultra-Low Balance Point (ULBP) technology. This positions the clubs’ balance point below five inches from the sole, far down the shaft. The main point is to let the putter head move more like the end of a pendulum, aiding in maintaining a square face at impact and ensuring consistent speed control. Newton achieves this through a combination of lightweight grips and shafts, employing its NANO-cellular technology to manufacture light putter grips weighing between 28.5g and 33g, about 1/3 the weight of a standard putter grip.
Newton also utilizes a forward-positioned center of gravity (CG) in their putter heads, designed to reduce sidespin and produce a consistent roll, enhancing accuracy even on off-center strikes. Nonetheless, the putters boast high Moment of Inertia (MOI) despite the forward CG, keeping head twisting and energy loss on mishits minimal. A standard putter typically loses 10-20% of energy on slight mishits, but Gravity putters surprisingly lose as little as 2%. This could easily be the difference between a made or missed putt.
Performance and User Experience
Many golfers agree that the ULBP technology in Newton Gravity Putters results in a smoother, more natural putting stroke. The pendulum-like motion facilitated by the putter’s design promotes a square face at impact, improving direction and speed control consistency. On the other hand, the forward CG design and high MOI enhance forgiveness on off-center strikes, maintaining ball speed and direction, especially on longer putts, where consistent speed and line are crucial.
Customization and Options
The Newton Gravity Putters enable golfers to customize aspects like length, ranging from 32 to 36 inches, and to choose from three grip shape options – flat, round, or pistol.
The Five Different Models Under the Gravity Line
The Newton Gravity Putter line comprises three new models: The CLASSIC, the DEUCE, and the DUKE. The remaining two models – the DRAC and the PRISM, are from the previous Sacks Parente brand, redesigned to include the new Gravity logo and colorways.
1. The DRAC
Newton takes on the extremely popular fanged mallet shape with the redesigned DRAC putter, Gravity’s highest MOI offering. It features a 6061 aluminum head with 100 grams of tungsten positioned forward, enhancing stability and forgiveness. Sacks Parente fans are familiar with this head design, now rebranded to include the new Gravity logo and colorways.
The DRAC’s bold aesthetic choices match the “vampire” theme floated by the fangs, with a black finish complemented by red accents, including a sight dot for alignment. Despite its aluminum construction, the putter produces a solid, low-pitched sound at impact with great speed control and direction. The DRAC retails from $450 and is available from 32″ to 36″, and you can choose from the center shaft, plumber’s neck, or flow neck variants.
2. The PRISM
Gravity’s redesigned PRISM mallet putter boasts a high MOI with a distinctive alignment stripe, crafted from 6061 aluminum and with 50 grams of tungsten. The putter aims to inspire confidence in alignment and stability through the stroke, tightening the dispersion of putts. The PRISM resembles the single-striped Sacks Parente Series 54 but with a reshaped mallet head to improve stability and move CG forward. The putter arguably has the softest feeling in the Gravity line, with excellent speed control and producing a soft, low-pitched click at impact. Prices for the PRISM start at $450, and it’s available from 32″ to 36″ with a center shafted hosel.
3. The DEUCE
The all-new DEUCE presents a square back or double-wide blade design, blending a traditional look with modern technology. It’s constructed from precision-milled 1018 carbon steel without the supplementary tungsten weighting seen in the larger Gravity mallets, providing a firm feel with a deep sound at impact. The DEUCE’s simple red alignment aid on the flange and its square lines make it extremely easy to align at address, and it comes in plumber’s neck, flow neck, and center-shafted variants, each affecting the toe hang to suit different strokes. You can grab the putter from $450, available from 32″ to 36″ with a center shafted hosel and a choice of flat, round, or pistol grip.
4. The DUKE
The DUKE blends classic aesthetics with Newton’s advanced technology, appealing to golfers seeking a more traditional blade design. Named for Ken Duke, who uses it on the PGA TOUR Champions, the putter has a 1018 carbon steel body with tungsten weighting, translating to a classically shaped half mallet with a flow neck hosel positioned at the heel. The DUKE offers the comfort of a familiar shape with all the Gravity technology packed into it, with its tungsten weights inserted into the milled face bordering the center impact area. You can expect a fantastic look at address, with the putter’s flow neck and smooth bumpers drawing the eyes in. The DUKE is available from 32″ to 36″ at $450.
5. The CLASSIC
The aptly named CLASSIC is Newton’s nod to the anser-style blade putter, optimized for modern stroke types with a shallower arc. It’s milled from 1018 carbon steel without additional tungsten weighting and features a newly designed hosel for enhanced performance and feel. Some of the CLASSIC’s impressive qualities include more face rotation through the stroke, forgiving on off-center hits, and excellent speed control. It retails from $450, with lengths ranging from 32″ to 36″ and three different grip options.
Final Verdict
In NEWTON GOLF’s Executive Chairman Greg Campbell’s words, “We named the new putter division ‘Gravity’ because it perfectly encapsulates this fundamental design principle that enhances every putt’s natural tempo and precision. When the golfer lifts the putter on the backstroke, potential energy is stored, and, by trusting gravity to accelerate the putter head during the stroke, golfers can achieve consistent velocity at impact – which is proportional to the length of the backstroke.”
