Alexandra Försterling pulled away from Charley Hull to come out on top with a three-shot victory at the Aramco Team Series in Tampa.
The 24-year-old German began the final day at Feather Sound Country Club tied for second but produced a sublime final-round 67 which included six birdies to pull clear, finishing the tournament on 12 under and earning her third title in her past 10 starts on the Ladies European Tour.
“I feel overwhelmed,” Försterling said. “I don’t know what to say! It’s an amazing feeling, I was definitely nervous like you always are in a final round, but I just tried to learn from the last times when I won and just play my game, adjust to the wind and have fun.
“I really tried to stay patient and really have fun and just stay in the moment and not think ahead and not think about the past. That’s what I try every single round.”
Försterling’s victory secures her position as the second automatic qualifier for the European Team in the upcoming 2024 Solheim Cup scheduled for September.
Overnight leader Charley Hull posted a one-under 71 in the final round to finish the tournament in second on 9 under, one shot ahead of compatriot Bronte Law.
The next event on the Ladies European Tour is the NSW Women’s Open taking place between 29-31 March at Magenta Shires Golf & Country Club in Australia.
