23-time Grand Slam tennis winner Novak Djokovic and five-time UEFA Champions League winner and former Wales international Gareth Bale will both compete in an all-star Ryder Cup competition.
Both will take part in the event alongside other sporting stars including Ferrari F1 driver Carlos Sainz and 2004 Ballon D’or winner Andriy Shevchenko at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club on Wednesday 27th September two days prior to the 44th edition of the Ryder Cup.
Teams will be led by former Ryder Cup captains Colin Montgomerie and Corey Pavin.
“I can’t wait to tee it up in Rome and experience the incredible atmosphere of a Ryder Cup, which has become legendary,” said Djokovic.
The course looks like a fantastic test of golf and my playing partner Kipp, a seasoned pro, has won a lot on the G4D Tour recently, so I’m confident we can get a point for the team. It’s going to be a great spectacle for the fans.”
“The Ryder Cup is a special event, having experienced the incredible atmosphere at Europe’s win in 2010 [at Wales’ Celtic Manor]” Bale said.
“I can’t wait to experience some of that magic again in Rome in a few weeks’ time.”
Bale has already experienced a taste of PGA TOUR golf after he took part in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February where he finished inside the top 20 of amateurs.
Other celebrities that are set to feature include actress Katheryn Newton and NFL star Victor Cruz.
The all-star Ryder Cup event will be broadcast live on The Golf Channel and will also be live streamed on the Official Ryder Cup YouTube and X Channels as well as Ryder Cup Europe and Ryder Cup USA Facebook pages.
