Course Insight
Designed by Larry Packard in 1982, the Copperhead Course features undulating terrain that is unusual for a Florida course and complements a challenging layout. The course underwent a restoration in 2015.
Notable Course Features
Holes 16, 17 and 18 are known as the “Snake Pit.” The toughest of the three, and the second most difficult hole on the course in 2022, is the 16th, a 475-yard par 4 that features water on the right side.
Charity Benefit
Copperhead Charities, the nonprofit organizing group of the Valspar Championship, has generated more than $49 million since 1977, including $1.7 million in 2022. The tournament raises substantial sums through its Birdies for Tampa Bay Charities program and other targeted donations to groups such as Tampa General Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, The First Tee, the Chi Rodriguez Youth Foundation and others.
