Ashun Wu produced a sensational final-round charge up the leaderboard to collect his second win at the China Open.

The 39-year-old home favorite produced a fine back-nine rally in the final round at the Enhance Anting Golf Club which featured five birdies to propel himself to the top of the leaderboard after carding the lowest round of the day, a 6-under 65, and end the tournament on 14 under.

This is Wu’s fifth triumph on the DP World Tour and comes nearly 10 years after his maiden triumph on the circuit at the same tournament.

“It is very special, that was 10 years ago when I won the Volvo China Open in Shanghai,” Wu said. “To come back to Shanghai and win again, it is a great story.

“It was a great round, I played great golf this week. You are always happy to win your own country’s Open, so very, very exciting.

“It’s an incredible week, there are incredible fans here and lovely golf course. It’s my home, Shanghai, even after a couple of rounds I felt relaxed because I was playing at home. Shanghai has given me luck.”

England’s Jordan Smith finished a shot behind on 13 under after a final-round 67 and Germany’s Yannick Paul completed the top three a shot further back on 12 under. Overnight leaders China’s Li Haotong and Spain’s Eugenio Chacarra, who was eyeing back-to-back victories, were unable to match Wu’s pace with the pair carding final-round 72s to finish tied-4th alongside China’s Zecheng Dou.

What is the next event?
