The PGA TOUR has confirmed that Brian Rolapp will take over as Commissioner with his role set to begin on January 1, 2027.
Rolapp, who was named chief executive of the PGA TOUR in June last year, will become only the fifth Commissioner in the circuit’s history. He follows Jay Monahan (2017–2026), Tim Finchem (1994–2016), Deane Beman (1974–1994), and Joe Dey (1969–1974).
“In Brian, we have a proven leader who has quickly earned the trust and confidence of our Boards and our membership,” said Joe Gorder, Chairman of the PGA TOUR Boards. “His vision, collaboration and leadership have strengthened our organization and earned the support of our Boards to assume the role of Commissioner.”
Rolapp expressed gratitude for the appointment and highlighted the work already underway. “I am grateful for the trust the Boards have placed in me and for the opportunity to serve the PGA TOUR and our membership as Commissioner,” he said. “Over the past year, we have made meaningful progress by prioritizing our fans and working collaboratively – with our players, our partners, our Boards and the Future Competition Committee – to strengthen our foundation and shape what comes next.”
Outgoing Commissioner Jay Monahan, who will remain in the role until the end of the year, reflected on his tenure and expressed confidence in the transition. “It has been an honor to serve as Commissioner of the PGA TOUR and to work alongside our players, partners and leadership team during a transformational period for our sport. The progress we have made was driven by a willingness to evolve and the shared commitment to do what is best for the future of the TOUR. Brian is the right leader for this moment and I am confident the PGA TOUR’s best days are ahead.”
The confirmation comes after the PGA TOUR announced major changes to the structure of its format from the 2028 season.
