Five-time major winner and former LIV Golfer Brooks Koepka has applied to be reinstated to the PGA TOUR after leaving the Saudi-backed circuit last month.

The 35-year-old American had been playing on LIV Golf for over three years and was one of the first biggest names to have been lured away from the PGA TOUR and to the format in the summer of 2022.

However, he revealed his departure in December with a year remaining on his contract to prioritize spending more time with his family.

A statement released by his representatives read: “Koepka is deeply grateful to Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Scott O’Neil, and the LIV Golf leadership team, his teammates, and the fans.

“Family has always guided Brooks’ decisions, and he feels this is the right moment to spend more time at home.

“Brooks will continue to be a huge supporter of LIV Golf and wishes the league and its players continued success. Brooks remains passionate about the game of golf and will keep fans updated on what’s ahead.”

LIV Golf CEO, Scott O’Neil, said the LIV and Koepka had “amicably and mutually agreed” a decision where the American would no longer be part of the league.

But in news first reported by ESPN, Koepka officially reapplied to the PGA TOUR on Friday. The PGA TOUR’s policy states that players must face a year out before being able to compete however, it remains unclear whether Koepka will face this suspension, a more considerable punishment, or make an immediate return.

Koepka remains able to participate in all four majors thanks to his triumph in the 2023 PGA Championship which earned him a five-year exemption.
