Charley Hull Ends Winless Drought At Aramco Team Series Riyadh

Charley Hull earned her first triumph on the professional stage since October 2022 thanks to a three-shot victory at the Aramco Team Series individual event in Riyadh.

The 28-year-old, whose last victory came at the 2022 Volunteers of America Classic, entered the final day at Riyadh Golf Club two shots behind overnight leader Pia Babnik of Slovenia. The World No. 15 instantly put her foot on the pedal by sinking five birdies in the first seven holes to take control of the event at the top of the leaderboard. The Englishwoman experienced a slight wobble on the 14th and 17th sinking two bogeys however, three further birdies helped her to card a final-round 66 to claim what ended up being a comfortable win.

“On the 16th hole the sun was across the water and I just couldn’t see and I just came off my drive,” Hull said following her victory.

“But apart from that, 17 was a really quick putt and the last hole I hit a good drive – a bit too good – into the bunker and then just two putts to win, so it was pretty good.

“I felt like my game has been pretty good all season, I’ve been knocking on the door quite a lot over the last couple of years and this week it all came together and I feel good.”

Hull had previously recorded six runner-up finishes in both LPGA Tour and LET Golf events since her last triumph.

Denmark’s Nicole Broch Estrup hit a final-round 66 to also overhaul Babnik and finish second which meant the Slovenian had to settle for a third-place finish after a disappointing 73.

What is the next event?

The next event on the Ladies European Tour schedule is the tour’s season finale, the Andalucia Costa Del Sol Open de Espana presented by OYSHO taking place between 28th November – 1st December at Real Club Guadalhorce Golf in Spain.
