Johnny Miller – 8 Wins (1974)
Johnny Miller was unstoppable in the first half of 1974. He won six times between January and May and thrice in a row to start the year. By the end of the season, he had accumulated a stunning eight wins. Although the golfer didn’t win a major that year, he overpowered courses and made birdies in bunches, leaving fans and players in awe.
Tom Watson – 7 Wins (1980)
Tom Watson’s 1980 season was the best of his career. He won seven times including the Open Championship, and was PGA TOUR Player of the Year.
Watson’s classic swing and feel around the greens made him a dominant force in the late 70s and early 80s. In 1980 he was at his best, winning on different types of courses and against strong competition. Few golfers could match his strategic play and mental toughness — and that year nobody did.
Scottie Scheffler – 7 Wins (2024)
Scottie Scheffler didn’t just have a good season in 2024 — he had one for the ages. He won seven times on the PGA TOUR, including the Masters, The PLAYERS, The Memorial and the TOUR Championship, finishing strongly with the FedExCup title. He also added a gold medal at the Paris Olympics to top it off.
What made it all the more impressive was how he won. Scheffler led the tour in strokes gained tee-to-green by a wide margin, had top-10s in almost every start, and stayed calm under pressure like a veteran.
His 2024 season was the most dominant in nearly 2 decades and cemented his status as the best golfer in the world.
Nick Price – 6 Wins (1994)
Low key, efficient and precise — Nick Price was machine-like in 1994. He won six times including the Open Championship and PGA Championship, and was world No. 1 during that stretch. Price’s swing was textbook, his putting stroke smooth and he was unbeatable when in the zone.
He also led the tour in earnings and scoring average and swept almost every major Player of the Year award. It was the perfect season for a quiet man.
