Grant Forrest collected his second DP World Tour title after claiming a comfortable four-shot victory at the Nexo Championship on home soil.

The 32-year-old Scotsman came into the final round at Trump International Golf Links with a three-shot advantage but saw that lead cut to two thanks to an early birdie from England’s Todd Clements but Forrest hit back with a birdie of his own at the fourth while Clements fell further back after sinking a triple-bogey on the same hole. The World No. 294 cruised the rest of the final round without any serious pressure from the chasing pack to card a final-round 72 and end on 8 under which was enough for him to earn his first DP World Tour triumph since the 2021 Hero Open.

It’s amazing, just speechless,” Forrest said reacting to his win. “I think it is the same week as I won four years ago on the calendar so just amazing, that must say something about this week and being at home.

“I just can’t believe it. It’s been such a tough year on the golf course. It’s just a crazy game that you can go and come out and do this, with what feels out of nowhere. It’s just that old chestnut that one week can turn things around and it has.”

Forrest’s win saw him receive a special video call from U.S President Donald Trump who congratulated him on his triumph.

“Your name’s going to be on the board for a long time Grant,” Trump said in the call that was shared by the DP World Tour X account.

“I watched it, he’s some player. I look forward to playing with him – in fact I will play with him tomorrow if he could get on a plane.

“Get on a plane and come over here Grant.

“We all watched you play. We just came out, what a round of golf. What three rounds of brilliant golf.

“Your swing is great and it’s a great honour you won, thank you very much.”

England’s Joseph Dean finished at the top of the tightly-congested chasing pack on 4 under while there was a three-way tie for third between Denmark’s Jacob Skov Olesen, England’s John Parry, and Norway’s Kristoffer Reitan all on 3 under.

What is the next event?

The next event on the DP World Tour schedule is the Danish Golf Championship aking place between 14-17 August at Furesø Golf Klub, Copenhagen.
