Jon Rahm: The Rise to the Top

Professional Career

Jon Rahm turned pro in 2016, the start of his rise to the top, after earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications at ASU. The first season was promising, finishing tied for third place at the Quicken Loans National and tied runner-up in the RBC Canadian Open, earning enough points for a PGA TOUR card for 2017.

His first professional win on the PGA TOUR came in January 2017 at the Farmers Insurance Open. After several top-10 finishes, he then recorded his first European Tour victory by scooping the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open. To complete the year, Rahmbo won the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai, making him a respected name in golf.

2018 saw Rahm scoop his second PGA TOUR win in the CareerBuilder Challenge, followed by another European Tour trophy, the Open de España in April. Other wins in the year were a Ryder Cup victory playing for Team Europe in September, and winning the Hero World Challenge in December.

Come 2019, the golf sensation won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, the Open de España at Club de Campo, and the European Tour’s Race to Dubai title.

July 2020 saw Rahm win the Memorial Tournament, effectively catapulting him to number one in the Official World Golf Ranking, becoming the second Spaniard to do so after Seve Ballesteros. As of this writing, Jon has spent a total of 48 weeks as world number one.

In total, Rahm boasts 11 PGA TOUR wins, 10 European Tour victories, and two major titles.

Major Triumphs

Jon Rahm joined the elite club of major championship winners in June 2021, after finishing with two birdies on the final two holes at Torrey Pines to bag the U.S. Open trophy.

He has begun 2023 on a very high note, heading to the Masters Tournament in April with wins at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, The American Express, and the Genesis Invitational.

At Augusta National, Rahm finished four strokes ahead of Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson to lift the Masters title.
