Keegan Bradley held his nerve after hitting three bogeys in four holes late on to secure a three-shot victory at the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands.
The 37-year-old American entered the final day in Connecticut with a one-shot lead and extended that advantage to six shots during the day. A late wobble of three bogeys saw the door open for the chasing pack which included Zac Blair and Brian Harman but Bradley recovered to card a two-under 68 to claim his sixth PGA TOUR triumph.
“This is for all the kids who grew up in New England, who had to sit through the winters and watch other people play golf,” Bradley said.
I’m just so proud to win this tournament.
“Travelers and everybody involved puts on such a first-class tournament and it’s been like this for a decade. I’m so happy to have my family here, they’re my lucky charm and I love them so much.
“I’m so lucky to be from this New England area. This feels like a dream.”
Blair and Harmann tied for second with Blair hitting an impressive eight-under 62, with World number one Scottie Scheffler tied fourth alongside Patrick Cantlay and Chez Reavie after carding a five-under 65.
The next event on the PGA TOUR schedule is the Rocket Mortgage Classic taking place between June 29 – July 2 at the Detroit Golf Club in Michigan.
