Sebastian Soderberg collapsed from an eight-shot advantage in the final round of the Scandianvian Mixed to hand fellow Swede Linn Grant a one-shot victory.
Linn Grant entered the final round in Helsingborg a mammoth 11 shots behind then leader Soderberg, who was aiming to seal his first triumph on the PGA TOUR since the 2019 OMERGA Masters. Soderberg began to falter on the front nine which meant his lead was reduced to four and the errors continued with bogeys on both the 13th and 15th which meant his lead was cut once more to just a single shot.
On the final hole, Soderberg missed his par putt for the win and ended up three-putting the hole to close with a final-round 77 and present victory to Grant on 17 under.
This victory for Grant means that she has become the first female player to win two titles on the DP World Tour.
“Very mixed emotions,” said a stunned Grant. “I feel, honestly, terrible for Sebastian at the moment. I don’t even have words for it, I can’t imagine how he feels. At the same time, I’m just surprised, so surprised, standing here as a winner again, in my home town – amazing.”
Soderberg finished the tournament tied-second alongside Scotland’s Calum Hill while South Africa’s Dean Burmester and Sweden’s Henrik Stenson tied for third 4 shots behind on 14 under.
What is the next event?
The next event on the DP World Tour schedule, following the U.S Open, is the KLM Open taking place between 20-23 June at The International in Amsterdam.
