Min Woo Lee overcame a final round slip to earn to secure a home Australian PGA Championship victory at Royal Queensland.

The 25-year-old began the final round holding a three-shot advantage over Japan’s Rikuya Hoshino but that was wiped after a bogey-par and Hoshino sunk two birdies in a row at the second and third.

Lee countered with a remarkable showing during the rest of the final round which included three birdies in four holes, hitting a three-under 68 and concluding the tournament on 20 under, three shots clear of Hoshino.

This is Lee’s third career DP World Tour triumph following victories in the 2020 ISPS Handa Vic Open and the 2021 abrdn Scottish Open.

“I made it interesting early on and through the middle but I ended up hanging on and I’m really proud,” said Lee.

“Rikuya’s a really good player and he kept knocking on the door, but it was exactly the same as my last win. My playing partner just kept coming, so I knew I needed to keep playing well and do my thing.

“I’m really proud how I made some up-and-downs and some putts.”

Marc Leishman hit a course record-equalling 63 to storm up to third in the leaderboard on 15 under while fellow countryman Curtis Luck finish 4th on on 13 under.

The next events on the DP World Tour schedule are the ISPS Handa Australian Open and the Investec South African Open Championship both taking place between 30 Nov – 3 December.
