Moriya Jutanugarn pulled away from the rest of the competition in the final round to secure victory and her third LPGA Tour title in the Portland Classic.
The 30-year-old began the final round with a three-shot deficit behind American Andrea Lee but the Thai player hit a six-under 66 to distance herself from the pack and claim a two-shot victory on 22 under.
She birdied holes 13 to 15 and sank an eight-foot putt to save par on the par-three 16th. Following this, she made a short birdie putt on the par-four 17th and finished with a bogey to seal her third LPGA Tour title adding to her wins in the 2021 Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational and 2018 Hugel-JTBC LA Open.
“Kind of been a long time since my last win,” Jutanugarn said. “To be in contention for the last few days, it’s kind of nice.
“I feel like I haven’t been in contention for a little while. It kind of keep your on toes and exciting.
“When you make that putt [on 16] it kind of feels a lot better and like taking a lot of the pressure off.”
Sister and 12-time LPGA Tour winner, Ariya Jutanugarn, also took part in the event finishing tied for ninth on 17 under.
“So excited and so proud of her, because like I know she been waiting for so long,” she said.
