Wyndham Clark collected his fourth career PGA TOUR title with a come-from-behind victory at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson.

The 32-year-old entered the final round at TPC Craig Ranch in a tie for second alongside world No. 1 and defending champion Scottie Scheffler with the American duo trailing South Korea’s Si Woo Kim who held the overnight lead on 21 under. But Clark made a storming start to the day with a host of birdies including at the 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th to cut Kim’s lead despite his positive start to the round. A bogey at the eighth saw the advantage handed over to Clark with Scheffler still lurking in contention just two back.

Clark’s run of birdies continued, making his fifth of the round at the 11th which was then followed up with a sublime eagle at the 12th to see him take the outright lead. Further birdies came at the 14th and 15th to increase his advantage to two shots but that was brief with Kim still hot on his heels responding with a birdie of his own. The gains continued right until the end as Clark sunk the final two birdies of his round at the 17th and 18th to card a sensational bogey free 11-under 60 to finish the event on 20 under, and earn his first victory of the season.

It is a welcome victory for the former U.S. Open champion having not won an event on the circuit since the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and having failed to record a top-10 finish prior to the event this season.

“It’s been a pretty heavy fall since being… I was even up to third in the world at some point in 2024,” Clark said reflecting on the win. “It’s frustrating, but that’s golf. I went through a tough spot, not swinging it good, not feeling comfortable with a lot of things, and I did a lot of work this off-season working on my golf swing.

“Then I started hitting it better, but wasn’t making the putts. Then, finally, I landed on a great putter, and then everything’s been kind of coming together.

“Needless to say, it feels amazing to be back in the winner’s circle. I feel like my game’s trending in a great direction to continue to have success through the rest of the year.”

A final-round 65 was enough for Kim to seal the runner-up spot on 27 under while Scheffler had to settle for third two shots further back on 25 under.

“I’m sure, if you looked statistically, I’m probably not much different than I have been the past couple of years, just a few shots here and there,” Scheffler said, who has recorded seven top-5 finishes so far this season. “A couple of things go my way in some tournaments.

“This season looks a bit different, but as you said, I’ve been playing some solid golf.

“Just need to keep putting myself in position, and things will turn my way.”

What is the next event?

The next event on the PGA TOUR schedule is the Charles Schwab Challenge taking place between 28-31 May at the Colonial Country Club in Texas.
