Under Armour Spieth One Golf Shoe Review

Spieth One Golf Shoe

This year’s launch of the Under Armour Spieth One golf shoe is already evidence enough of the standing Jordan Spieth has in the game.

When Under Armour signed an up-and-coming young golfer to be the first-ever face of their brand in the sport, they could only have dreamed of the impact Jordan Spieth had in his formative years as a professional golfer.

But fast forward a mere five or so years and we have the perfect example of just how popular he is.

In the same way that Nike took a young Tiger Woods and centred their brand around him, Under Armour opted to have Spieth on their side as they crossed over into the world of golf. And there are striking similarities between the two, with two-time major champion Spieth now starting his own range of products.

Spieth has helped design what is the signature golf shoe among those offered by Under Armour. The work in creating the Spieth One has taken on all the hallmarks of the man himself: attention to detail, precision, focus and a thirst to extract the most minute of advantages over the competition.

It’s far from being at the budget end of the golf shoe marketplace, however—in fact, it is much more high-end. Price-wise it sits alongside the popular offerings from the likes of Footjoy.

So what makes the Under Armour Spieth One Golf Shoe unique or special?

Firstly, there’s Rotational Resistance Traction for starters, which helps prevent any movement from your feet during the swing process. The “evolutionary spike technology”, as Under Armour call it, is what sets it apart from competitors with the design featuring four spikes. It was born out of Spieth’s need for his golf shoe to keep him more stable, having had problems during his own swing path in the past.

Secondly, the clever design of the Dual Durometer sole. The soft forefoot on the sole and a firmer heel allows or greater flexibility without losing stability.

There’s also a breathable yet waterproof upper—made from a single seam to reduce the weight and layers, a plus for any golfer walking around a course for long periods of time—to the shoe, keeping out water in damp conditions but still allowing perspiration to escape. There is also a removable insole in the shoe for added comfort.

The Under Armour Spieth One Golf Shoe is exactly what you’d expect from the Under Armour brand, which has produced high-quality training shoes and sports clothing even prior to making the move into golf. You’re getting a lightweight golf shoe ideal for almost all climates, weather conditions and terrains, and one that has Under Armour’s technology and development stamped all over it.

Under Armour Spieth One Golf Shoe: the Design

There’s nothing flashy about the Under Armour Spieth One golf shoe in terms of design, so it is probably not for you if you like to stand out from the crowd—the color schemes won’t have you reaching for a pair of sunglasses. They are contemporary yet traditional in that sense, and incredibly comfortable too.

The Under Armour Spieth One golf shoes undoubtedly represent the man they are named after. Designed with Spieth’s game in mind specifically, they help to provide stableness through the swing process that the vast majority of golfers crave.

No more foot slipping. While they’re not cheap, they represent value for money and offer an impressive alternative to more traditional golfing brands in the higher-end bracket.
