Chiara Tamburlini Secures Maiden Victory With Comprehensive Joburg Ladies Open Victory

Chiara Tamburlini produced a dominant performance to seal her first triumph on the Ladies European Tour with a seven-shot victory at the Joburg Open.

The 24-year-old Swiss rookie entered the final day with a commanding six-shot advantage thanks to a sublime display on Saturday and continued her impressive form by sinking seven birdies on the Sunday to help her card a three-under final round and cruise to a maiden win.

“This obviously means a lot,” Tamburlini said. “Being able to win on the LET in my seventh start or so this year is really special.

“It just feels like all the hard work has paid off. I am honestly speechless at the moment and beyond grateful to be here and be able to win this tournament today.

“I had always dreamed about it, but I didn’t know that I was actually capable of doing it, so to be standing here now is just very nice.”

Just under a year ago, Tamburlini claimed her tour card with wins on the LET Access Series.

Fellow rookie Aunchisa Utama from Thailand claimed second on 10 under, while there was a tie for third between India’s Diksha Dagar and Spain’s Luna Sobron Galmes on 9 under.

The next event on the Ladies European Tour schedule is the Investec South African Women’s Open taking place between 25-28 April at Erinvale Country and Golf Estate.
