Billy Horschel earned his eight career triumph on the PGA TOUR but first in two years thanks to a two-shot victory at the Corales Puntacana Championship in the Dominican Republic.
The 37-year-old, whose last win on the PGA TOUR came in the 2022 Memorial Tournament, entered the final round three shots behind the lead but carded a nine-under 63 which included four consecutive birdies to seal victory.
This game of golf is so fickle,” Horschel said. “You can put a lot into it and not get everything you want out of it.
“I knew…I had the ability, I had the talent. I had to continue to believe the good stuff was going to come to the forefront.”
This victory for Horschel guarantees him a place into the upcoming PGA Championship next month and is also likely to take part in the Wells Fargo Championship, the next $20m signature event.
American Wesley Bryan, who was aiming to go wire-to-wire, did not manage to achieve the feat after missing a crucial par putt late in the final round which meant he ended the tournament in second on 21 under. While countryman Kevin Tawy endedin third after hitting a final-round 69.
The next event on the PGA TOUR schedule is AT&T Byron Nelson taking place between 2-5 May at TPC Craig Ranch in Texas.
