Emiliano Grillo overcame Adam Schenk in a play-off to claim the Charles Schwab Challenge title in Texas.
The Argentinian, whose previous victory on the PGA Tour came in the 2015 Frys.com Open, looked on course for victory but a double-bogey on the final round opened the door for Schenk to capilatize, hitting par to force a play-off.
But Grillo birdied the second play-off to defeat Schenk in the play-off and claim his first PGA TOUR title in seven years, finishing the tournament on eight-under with 68 on the last day.
“I made a double on 18 [Sunday] and honestly I didn’t care,” Grillo said. “Obviously, I would have liked to get it on the 72nd, but to close with some great swings, great swings there on 18, two great birdies on 16.”
Englishman Harry Hall missed out on the chance on securing his first PGA TOUR triumph despite finding himself in a three-way tie for the lead with Grillo and Schenk whilst preparing to hit his tee shot on the last hole. He hit closed with a bogey on the final hole which was not enough for him to join the play-off, finishing tied for third on seven under alongside current World No. 1 and The PLAYERS Championship winner Scottie Scheffler.
The next event on the PGA TOUR is the Memorial Tournament taking place between June 1-4 at the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Ohio.
