Jordan Gumberg landed his second career DP World Tour title with a narrow wire-to-wire victory at the Hainan Classic.

The 30-year-old American, whose only previous triumph on the circuit came at the 2024 SDC Championship, came into the final round at Mission Hills Haikou in a share for the lead alongside Spanish playing partner Jorge Campillo. The duo exchanged the lead throughout the day but Gumberg held the lead from the 11th onward after the Spaniard’s damaging bogeys at the 9th and 10th.

Gumberg held off Campillo for the rest of the day as he closed with a 2-under 70 to end the tournament on 19 under and secure his second victory on the circuit.

“I don’t have words right now,” Gumberg said, who only secured his DP World Tour card in dramatic circumstances at last year’s Genesis Championship with a crucial eagle putt at the last.

“He was ahead at first, I was ahead…he was ahead, I was ahead…it just ended up a back-and-forth battle all day.”

“After last year’s ending of the season, this is amazing.”

Campillo carded a final-round 71 to finish on 18 under while elsewhere, there was a three-way tie for third consisting of England’s Marcus Armitage, China’s Yanhan Zhou and UAE’s Adrian Otaegui all of whom concluded on 15 under.

What is the next event?

The next event on the DP World Tour schedule is Hero Indian Open taking place between 26-29 March at the DLF Golf & Country Club in India.
