Nelly Korda collected her 10th career title on the LPGA Tour and second of the year thanks to a play-off victory over Ryann O’Toole in the Seri Pak Championship.
The 25-year-old American entered the final day at Palos Verdes Golf Club with a two shot deficit behind leaders Shin Ji-yai and Alison Lee. But the LPGA Drive On champion hit a mixed two-under 69, which included three bogeys, to finish on nine under alongside compatriot Ryann O’Toole who shot a five-under 66.
The play-off took place at the par-four 18th where both golfers reached the green in two. But it was Korda who managed to sink the winning putt to become the 39th player to win at least 10 tournaments on the LPGA Tour.
“Today was just really tough. But I think that’s also the beauty of the game,” said Korda.
“It’s fun to play in these conditions and kind of be a little bit more artistic out here.”
Overnight co-leader Alison Lee finished in a tie for second with Australia’s Gabriela Ruffels on eight under while Ji-Yai Shin slipped down to fifth alongside America’s Andrea Lee and Thailand’s Thidapa Suwannapura.
The next event on the LPGA Tour schedule is the Ford Championship presented by KCC taking place between 28-31 March at Seville Golf and Country Club in Arizona.
