Tiger Woods will be making his long-awaited return to competitive action in the TGL Finals on Tuesday night.
The 15-time major winner has been recovering from a seventh back surgery of his career in October to address a collapsed disc in his spine. Before that, he had been in the process of recovering from an achilles surgery to repair a ruptured left achilles suffered in March which ended his hopes of taking part in the rest of the 2025 season.
Woods, who had since taken up a non-playing role in the TGL season so far, will line up with Max Homa and Tom Kim for Jupiter Links Golf Club as they go against the trio of Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, and Sahith Theegala of Los Angeles Golf Club in Tuesday night’s decisive Finals Match 2 at SoFi Center.
Match 1 saw Los Angeles Golf Club claim a 6-5 victory over Jupiter Links Golf Club on Monday in the best-of-three match series. Another victory for Los Angeles Golf Club will see them take the crown of TGL season two champions and win the SoFi Cup. Victory for Jupiter Links Golf Club will level the series and force the contest into a winner-takes-all Match 3 later that evening.
“As a team, we were together in this, all of us together, and it was close,” Woods said following his side’s defeat on Monday. “We had our opportunities; they had their opportunities. We could have flipped in the middle of that back nine, and it came down to the last hole.
“We were in a playoff once, and this was damn near there. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen, but we have possibly two more matches. We’re not out of this. Even with a loss we’re still not out of it.”
Woods’ most recent competitive appearance on the PGA TOUR came at the Open Championship at Royal Troon in July 2024. However, the 50-year-old will be hoping to find some rhythm ahead of a potential appearance at Augusta for this year’s Masters, an event he has previously refused to rule out taking part in.
