Three new Titleist irons have been debuting at the 2019 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach with the T100, 620 MB and 620 CBs all been tried out for the first time.
The arrival of the three new irons styles is the latest in what has been a busy time of things for Titleist, who have also launched the TS2 and TS3 hybrids and the U-500 and U-510 utility irons in recent weeks.
Those four ranges debuted in the hands of PGA Tour stars at the Memorial Tournament on the PGA Tour last month, and now the T100, 620 MB and 620 CB irons have also been tried out for the first time by Titleist’s leading ambassadors including Justin Thomas, Adam Scott and Rafael Cabrera Bello.
“The new Titleist T100, 620 MB and 620 CB irons will make their tour debut at this week’s U.S. Open, marking the first opportunity for players to use the new irons in competition,” Titleist said in a statement revealing the new creations.
“Validating product performance on Tour is a critical step in the development of all Titleist golf clubs. Based on early player feedback, the new lineup is poised to continue our run as the iron brand of choice on the PGA Tour.
“Based on initial tour player testing and feedback, the new lineup is poised to continue Titleist’s run as the most played iron on the PGA TOUR for each of the last five years and 14 of the last 15 seasons.”
Titleist have traditionally gone down the route of launching new equipment at big events and getting the validation of tour stars on what has been created. That process has been happening in the build up to the 2019 U.S. Open during the three practice days.
Little information has been provided by Titleist over the look and design of each of the irons with golf fans and lovers of the brand eager to discover more. Images were released of Cabrera Bello and Jimmy Walker using the new irons on the course and the range at Pebble Beach along with snap of what they look like.
The images show an attractive muscleback set of irons, presumably the Titleist 620 MB, as well as a cavity version which feature the labelling of the Titleist T100 irons.
“On Tour and in play,” Titleist posted on social media. “New Titleist T100, 620 CB and 620 MB irons have landed in bags at the #USOpen and the reception has been nothing short of ‘Fantastic’. #PureTitleist.”
Titleist released the most expensive ever set of irons earlier this year when the CNCPT range was unveiled including the CP-01 and CP-02 irons. Costing $7500 or £7500 for seven irons, the CNCPT irons were created with a notion of putting no limit on cost, material or engineering development.
The three new irons will not carry the same sort of price tag, but details of cost will be released in due course by Titleist.
