Guido Migliozzi captured his fourth DP World Tour title by coming out on top in a dramatic three-way play-off at the KLM Open in the Netherlands.

Despite four bogeys in a six-hole stretch around the turn, the Italian birdied two of his last three holes to finish with a final-round 70 at The International in Amsterdam, ending the week tied at 11 under with Marcus Kinhult and England’s Joe Dean.

The play-off took place at the par-five 18th where all three reached the green in two and two-putted for birdie. But it was Migliozzi who clinched the victory in impressive fashion on the second extra hole.

“It’s been a great battle,” said Migliozzi. “After I lost the ball on 10 inside me I was like ‘If I can go through this, then I can do it’.

“I never thought I was done. I always try to make birdies and try to come back and here it is now. It’s an incredible feeling.”

The final round of the event was delayed due to protestors blocking the entrance to the course. A spokesperson for the DP World Tour said: “Play was disrupted for two hours while a small group of protesters blocked the entrance to the golf course. We would like to thank the marshals, players and spectators for their help while the situation was resolved.”

Migliozzi’s victory elevates him to eighth in the latest Race to Dubai standings and also qualifies him for The Open next month at Royal Troon through the Open Qualifying Series.

What is the next event?

The next event on the DP World Tour schedule is the Italian Open presented by Regione Emilia-Romagna taking place between 27-30 June at Adriatic Golf Club Cervia in Italy.
