Keita Nakajima secured a maiden victory on the DP World Tour with an impressive four-shot victory in the Hero Indian Classic.
The 23-year-old from Japan, who’s made only 11 appearances on the DP World Tour, started the final round at DLF Golf & Country Club with a four-shot lead and extended that already convincing lead to nine shots after he made the turn.
Due to the size of his advantage, a stumble towards the end, dropping four shots in his last five, did not mean anything as he closed with a 73 to finish on 17 under and cruise to victory.
“I feel like this is the first win of a new professional career,” Nakajima said. “This is my first year playing on the DP World Tour and I’m very proud to have won on the DP World Tour and very honoured to be playing here.
“I want to try and finish on the top 10 on this tour and then go to the PGA TOUR in 2025.”
Nakajima’s professional debut came in the 2022 ZOZO Championship on the PGA TOUR and he won the 2023 Japan Golf Tour Organisation Order of Merit thanks to three victories showing his rise in the sport as he aims to seal a place on the PGA TOUR.
There was a three-way tie for second featuring American Johannes Veerman, India’s Veer Ahlawat, and Sweden’s Sebastian Soderberg, all on 13 under.
The next event on the DP World Tour schedule is the Masters Tournament taking place between 11-14 April at Augusta National.
