Marta Martin claimed her first Ladies European Tour title thanks to a four-shot victory over England’s Rosie Davies at the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open.
The 27-year-old Spaniard built on her rounds of 69 and 67 from the first two days at Royal Beroun Golf Club with an impressive nine-under 63 in the final round, featuring 10 birdies and just one bogey to finish the week on 17 under.
She began the final round one shot behind but surged into the lead after a birdie at the second hole and adding seven consecutive birdies from the fifth. Despite a bogey at the 12th, she bounced back with birdies on two of the next three holes to secure a remarkable victory.
“I’m very happy!” Martin said. “It was a phenomenal round out there with many birdies and I really enjoyed it. I just kept hitting good shots and they ended up very close and I kept making putts. It was really fun.”
Martin finished four ahead of Davies on 13 under while there was a three-way tie third that featured Sweden’s Caroline Hedwall, Finland’s Ursula Wikstrom, and Wales’ Chloe Williams who were all a further shot behind.
What is the next event?
