Stacy Lewis has confirmed that she will retire at the end of the LPGA Tour season.

The 40-year-old, who debuted on the LPGA Tour in 2009, has 13 wins on the circuit including two majors – the Chevron Championship in 2011 and the Women’s British Open in 2013 – released a statement on Tuesday revealing that she will end her playing career once the season concludes.

“Never in a million years would I have thought this journey playing golf would still be going in 2025, but the time has come to put the clubs away,” Lewis’ statement read on social media.

“I am going to miss the LPGA Tour family and this part of my life, but my body has told me it’s time.”

Lewis accomplished a host of achievements during a successful career. In addition to her 13 titles, she also spent 25 weeks as the number one ranked golfer in the women’s game and scooped the LPGA Player of Year award twice, in 2012 and 2014. She represented the United States in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games where she finished tied-fourth.

She also took part in four Solheim Cups as a player for the United States, winning it twice in 2015 and 2017 and most recently captained her team to their first Solheim Cup triumph in seven years in Virginia last September.

These achievements came after she was diagnosed with scoliosis (curvature of the spine) at the age of 11, having to undergo surgery and wear a back brace for nearly seven years.

This season, Lewis has made 15 starts and made the cut on seven occasions with her best finish coming at the AIG Women’s Open (T50).
