Gary Player
Like his counterparts in the infamous The Big Three, Gary Player sits proudly on this list, with a total of three green jackets. Player won the Masters in 1961, 1974, and 1978, and recorded a stunning nine victories in major championships. The remaining six are scooping the British Open in 1959, 1968, and 1974, the US Open in 1965, and the PGA Championship in 1962 and 1972.
Nick Faldo
Although many young golfers might know Sir Nick Faldo a television commentator for major golf championships, the man became a legend on the course. Faldo’s six major championships include three green jackets in 1989, 1990, and 1996, as well as three Open Championships in 1987, 1990, and 1992.
Phil Mickelson
He might have switched to LIV Golf and the decision may have been unpopular in some quarters, but Lefty remains one of the finest golfers of this generation. Mickelson is a 45-time PGA TOUR winner, but most likely the favorite trophies in his closet are the three Masters titles he won in 2004, 2006, and 2010. The star also surprised many golf fans when he scooped the 2021 PGA Championship aged 50.
Horton Smith
Late American golfer Horton Smith is fondly remembered as the winner of the first and third Masters Tournaments, winning in 1934 and 1936 respectively. Although Smith’s last star shone in 1963, his legacy in golf continues.
Byron Nelson
Bryon Nelson represented his native America as a professional golfer between 1935 and 1946. Some of his notable achievements include bagging two green jackets in 1937 and 1942, the US Open in 1939, and two PGA Championships in 1940 and 1945.

Winning the Masters is every golfer’s dream. Nonetheless, the fete sometimes proves evasive to stars like Rory McIlroy, who has won every other major tournament. With the crop of young golf superstars sprouting lately like Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm, we can’t wait to see who might take on The Golden Bear’s record of six Masters titles and join the list of golfers with the most green jackets.
