10 Great Ways to Improve Your Golf Game

Improve Your Golf Game
  1. Focus On Straighter, Not Further

When you shoot a high score, it is often not down to not hitting the ball far enough, but is down to drilling the ball offline.

It is far too easy to get sucked in by the phenomenal distance the world’s top golfers hit the ball, and the subsequent bursts of praise from the commentators, but improving distance is not where the majority of golfers should focus their efforts. Working on the relationship of your clubface to the swing path will increase ball control, and you’ll hit a higher percentage of fairways and greens.

  1. Improve Your Putting

99.9% of us will never drive the ball like Duvall or DJ, but we can putt like they do, especially from 6 feet and under.

Just going to the range and smashing balls for an hour will not help your short game. Split your time at the range between hitting balls and practicing your short putts.

It is more common than you might imagine for pros to complete a four-day tournament having holed 100% of their putts from 6 feet or under.

A lot of players get their pre-round practice the wrong way round. If you are one of those who hit balls for an hour then sink a couple of putts before heading to the first tee, then it’s time you rethink your routine. There should be a lot more time spent putting than anything else in the hour before your round begins.
